Championing the right of every child to start life with the best possible foundation of health, learning and development, for more than three decades

The Center for Children’s Initiatives (CCI) is nationally recognized as a leading voice for meeting the care and development needs of children from birth through school age.  Founded in 1982, CCI currently focuses on policy and advocacy efforts to secure appropriate investments, adopt innovative solutions and assure quality services to meet the diverse needs of young children and their families.

How We Work:

CCI will continue to work in collaboration and partnership with other early childhood and public education experts and advocates to:

  • Promote the ever-increasing evidence that investments in a child’s early experiences lay the foundation for all later learning and success.

  • Document the lessons learned and promote best practices learned in implementation in New York and nationally to promote effective policies that make a difference for children

  • Collaborate with strategic partners to promote public support, advance better solutions to promote effective investment in early care and learning.

The Difference We’ve Made:

  • Led campaign for Universal Prekindergarten than now serves more than 120,000 children in New York State

  • Served on NYC's implementation team for Pre-K for All to make pre-K universal in New York City

  • Led the Better Baby Campaign to expand and improve services for infants and toddlers

Current Priorities

  • Pre-K for All 3- and 4-year-olds in New York State

  • Promote effective school-community partnerships to strengthen early childhood education

  • Expand access to quality, affordable child care
